New appointments at department of immigration and civil status |09 March 2017

 

The Ministry of Home Affairs has announced new appointments and promotions in the department of immigration and civil status.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 3(1) of the Immigration Decree 1979, the Minister for Home Affairs, Mitcy Larue has appointed Paul Didon as chief immigration officer.

Mr Didon joined the immigration office in June 1993 and has worked at the border control points at the Port and Airport.

He has also worked as a passport officer and as a senior immigration officer in the work permit section during the past 10 years.

Mr Didon has represented the department of immigration and civil status in various fora on migration and movement of persons in the region and internationally.

He takes over the post of chief immigration officer from Miriam Télémaque who was appointed the principal secretary for immigration and civil status by President Danny Faure when he announced his new government in October last year.

The previous post of Mr Didon, who worked as principal immigration officer, has been filled in by Michel Elizabeth who has been promoted from the post of senior immigration officer in the passport section.

Mr Elizabeth joined the then immigration department in 1986 and has worked in different sections during the past 20 years.

Meanwhile, Marietta Labrosse has been appointed the principal civil status officer in the division of civil status.

She joined the civil status office in 1978 as a clerical officer and went through several promotions before being promoted as acting principal civil status officer in 2015.

The Ministry of Home Affairs congratulates Ms Labrosse, Mr Didon and Mr Elizabeth on their new appointments.
