Julie loses in opening round

Three Seychellois boxers are currently competing at the African Boxing Confederation (AFBC) African Boxing Championships being held in Congo, Brazzaville, where already one of our boxers have been eliminated.

Kitson Julie was in action on Monday, where he faced Algeria’s Mabrouk Boughrara in the prelimininary round of the -91kg category. After five rounds of throwing punches, it was the Algerian who won 5-0 (30-26, 30-27, 30-27, 30-27 and 30-27) to progress to the next round and send Julie packing.

Nelson Molle, fighting in the -75kg weight class, was due to fight yesterday, while the other athlete representing Seychelles at the tournament, Keddy Agnes, will fight in the +91kg.

The tournament will end on June 25 and the remaining boxers will be looking to progress as far as possible.
