Dr Agarwal Eye Hospital holds free eye screening camp at School for the Exceptional Child |15 July 2017

School children and teachers gathered at the School for the Exceptional Child at Roche Caiman earlier this week for free eye screening camp by an eye specialist from Dr Agarwal’s Eye Hospital, situated at Dr Murthy’s Clinic in Victoria.

A total of 20 children and 40 teachers and parents have been earmarked for the screening. The screening will be followed by specialised tests at Dr Agarwal’s Clinic for children who cannot read and for those who are not able to answer questions.

The event was coordinated by the JJ spirit Foundation, who was approached by Rotaract Club to have the screening done at the School for the Exceptional Child compound.

Ms Lindy Cupidon of JJ Spirit explains:

“Those who cannot do the screening today will call at the clinic for specialised test after they have been given an appointment by the clinic. JJ Spirit was contacted by Rotaract Club to have the screening held here at the Exceptional School because in the past, the foundation together with Lion’s Club and Leo Club, organised such screenings in all government schools. But the School for the Exceptional Child was not included,” she said.

And that’s why, she said, Rotaract Club has approached JJ Spirit Foundation, which then approached Dr Agarwal’s Clinic who agreed to offer the service free of charge.

It is to be noted that Leo Club is the children section of the Lion’s Club.

The doctor conducting the eye screening was Nalim Nayam of Dr Agarwal’s Eye Hospital.
