Hilton Seychelles honoured with two prestigious awards |09 September 2017

Two Hilton Seychelles resorts have won coveted titles at the globally-recognised World Travel Awards 2017.

For the second year in a row, Hilton Seychelles Northolme Resort & Spa has been awarded the title of Seychelles' Leading Hotel Suite for its two-bedroom presidential villa.

General manager Gregory Thierion said: “We are proud of the presidential villa at our property and are privileged to be awarded with the title of Leading Hotel Suite in the Seychelles. The villa is a popular choice for groups due to its large private swimming pool and outdoor deck.”

Hilton Seychelles Northolme Resort & Spa is known for its elegant wooden finish in all villas, and the panoramic views of the Indian Ocean, Beau Vallon Bay and Silhouette Island from the private decks. Both bathrooms are equipped with a whirlpool bath, while the spacious living area is furnished with contemporary décor, original Seychellois artwork and a plush sofa.

Also winning the title for a second year is Hilton Seychelles Labriz Resort & Spa, which was recognised by World Travel Awards as Seychelles' Leading Green Resort 2017.

Hilton Seychelles Labriz Resort & Spa is the only resort on Silhouette Island, a marine national park since 1987 and home to a huge diversity of indigenous fauna and flora. Guests can go on a selection of nature trails where they can marvel at the untouched equatorial mist forest full of botanical treasures such as orchids, the pitcher plant and the incense tree.

General manager Andre Borg said: “It is an honour to be recognised for our efforts in promoting the prosperity of Silhouette Island's biodiversity. Over 92% of the island has been designated as a protected area, and we have partnered with the Islands Development Company and Island Conservation Society to help preserve its flora and fauna.”

Now in its 24th year, the World Travel Awards is regarded as a milestone event by hotels and resorts in the region for recognising excellence in hospitality. The ceremony held on July 8 was attended by the industry's key players as well as members of media.

Both Hilton Seychelles properties will now compete in the corresponding world categories, winners of which will be announced at the World Travel Awards Grand Final in December.

The two Hilton Seychelles resorts have also been recognised for their nature conservation efforts with the TUI Environmental Champion Award.

Hilton Seychelles Labriz Resort & Spa and Hilton Seychelles Northolme Resort & Spa are the only two resorts in Seychelles to receive the prestigious award from TUI Germany, a part of the international tourism business called TUI Group.

Recognising hotels for their work towards protecting the environment, the TUI Environmental Champion Award was an initiative launched in 1996 to enhance hoteliers’ awareness and commitment around sustainability. The assessment also takes into account guests’ feedback on the hotel’s environmental performance.

Hilton Seychelles Northolme Resort & Spa is home to one of the few cannonball trees on Mahé, which are only otherwise found in the National Botanical Garden. The resort is also known for its structure, where each villa is perched on stilts on the rocky outcrop.

GM Thierion said: “We are proud to be one of the only two resorts in Seychelles to receive this recognition, and even more so as the other resort is also a Hilton Seychelles property. The TUI Environmental Champion Award is proof that we want our guests to have an authentic Seychellois experience, where they can enjoy the wonders of nature in their rawest form.”

TUI Germany has been awarding the most environmentally friendly and sustainable hotels with the TUI Environmental Champion Award for more than two decades. Around 250 hotels worldwide will be awarded with this title this year.
