Anisa Rose introduces Seychelles’ first makeup tutorial and vlog channel |29 September 2017

Makeup artist and business owner, Anisa Rose, is a young Seychellois who has recently launched her own YouTube channel dedicated to inspiring women in Seychelles by teaching them about makeup application, hair goals, fashion trends, natural remedies, life hacks, clothes hauls, among others.

Anisa shares her journey and explains what her channel will offer the local population.

Born in Seychelles, Anisa moved to the United Kingdom (UK) at the age of 15 where she studied for a diploma in Business at college and says that being naturally slim, modelling has been at the forefront of her career.

“I have my own model mentoring business, run a photography studio in London and I am also the chief executive (CEO) of Rose Model Ltd,” Anisa explains.

When asked what motivated her to become a makeup artist, Anisa says that she admired the talent of makeup artists that she encountered during her time as a model.

“I was amazed at how they transformed me from 0-100.”

Her fascination prompted her to start asking the artists questions about applying makeup. From there, she started to use her wages to buy makeup kits and began teaching herself before becoming an Assistant Makeup Artist.

She recounts her very first experience as an artist, saying that it was for her best friend Shadae Booth when she represented her country in a beauty pageant. She says that “right then and there, I realised I am very good at this as I have very creative people in my family”.

In 2015, Anisa moved back to Seychelles to work as a makeup artist with tourists and locals.

“I extended my talent and did make up for events and photo-shoots for Miss Seychelles as well as anyone who wanted to look and feel a million dollars on any special occasion,” explains Anisa.

After nearly two years, she left Seychelles to continue with her modelling business but felt that she missed doing what she loved the most. She admits that it is in her nature to always be thinking of what she can do next and how she can make a difference, which led her to launch her own makeup tutorial/vlog channel.

Anisa explains this side of her character further by saying “I am very ambitious and such a philanthropist. I believe in service, I believe in helping people and I want people to feel fulfilled and empowered in their lives. I want all the young and older women in Seychelles to have someone to represent them, empower them and help them in fashion, make up, hair, everything that a woman loves basically to look good and feel good. I believe if you look good on the outside, you will feel more confident, grounded and amazing on the inside”.

Talking about challenges in the beauty industry, Anisa feels that there is a mentality in Seychelles that someone who makes an effort towards their looks is showing off, but she hopes to change the mindset of women and show them that it is ok to make an extra effort.

Through her channel, Anisa will show viewers how to apply makeup for various occasions, how to shape their eyebrows, about what makeup is trending (drug store to high end makeup) and she will also be testing new products/trends on the market.

“I will also focus on natural remedies for the skin and body. I am an ‘all natural’ type of girl when it comes to medicine, so I try not to use medicine as I would rather try to find alternatives. Now I can have the opportunity to share my knowledge with everyone. I will show how to shop on a budget, for example, doing clothes hauls, fashion fixes and how to use your outfits in a different way. I am open to trying suggestions from viewers as well,” says Anisa.

Followers are informed that Anisa will be coming back to Seychelles in the near future and to keep a look out for the announcement on social media.
