Indian HC donates medical equipment to health ministry |13 November 2017
The Indian Embassy has donated medical equipment to the Ministry of Health worth US $2.7 million, equivalent to R40 million.
The donation includes dental camera, weight scale, wireless printer, infusion pump, perfuse, syringe pump, ventilator, nebulizer, endoscopy unit system, endoscopy washer, ultra sound for physio therapy, electrical bed, mobile X-ray, among many others.
It was the high commissioner of India Dr Ausaf Sayeed who handed over the medical equipment to the Minister for Health Jean-Paul Adam, in a small ceremony held at the Red Roof building veranda.
Also present were the chief executive of the Health Care Agency (HCA) Dr Danny Louange, members of management of the ministry, HCA and the Public Health Authority.
The equipment will be used in various areas such as Intensive Care Unit (ICU), dental, physio-therapy among other sections.
After handing over the equipment, the Indian High Commissioner Dr Sayeed stated that the donation forms part of the grant of US $25 million that Seychelles received when the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi visited Seychelles.
“India and Seychelles have had a very strong relationship. India has always been there to provide Seychelles with the latest medical equipment, and more equipment is coming to benefit Seychelles. The engagement of India in the health care centre is sincere. In 2003, we signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Seychelles to deliver updated equipment,” he said.
Thanking the Indian high commissioner, Minister Adam said the medical equipment will allow all the staff to work with top quality equipment which will make their work easier.
“Such equipment will allow us to deliver a much better quality service, and give better care to each individual. The next donation will be for the human resource development, which will allow us to deliver a much better and trustworthy and fast service,” he said.
