Ceps caring for the survivors of domestic violence |05 April 2018

The Citizens Engagement Platform Seychelles (Ceps) is looking for a suitable accommodation for rent in order to offer appropriate, caring services for the survivors of domestic violence.

The Gender Commission of Ceps as a partner and stakeholder in the elimination of domestic violence has received a grant from the European Union to undertake such a project with the beneficiaries being vulnerable women.

There are different aspects to the three-year project and the scope includes a shelter for women who are survivors of domestic violence.

A gender activist at Ceps, Monica Servina, pointed out that such project will benefit the women who are being abused in different ways.

“Domestic violence has been in the Seychellois society for many years and the number of persons who are experiencing violence touch all levels of the society. The executive has developed a strategic document and interventions have been implemented and are ongoing. One of the outstanding activities is the setting up of a shelter for women,” she said.

The statistics provided by different institutions, namely department of Social Affairs, the Family Squad of the Police Department and the Family Tribunal, reflect a vague picture of the reality of domestic violence in our country.

To realise such project Ceps is inviting tenders for renting premises for a shelter for victims of gender-based violence.

Interested parties can contact Ceps secretariat on 4325550 or 4325558 for further information.

Tender documents should be collected from and also deposited once completed at the Ceps secretariat situated in Room 208, second floor, Orion Mall, Victoria.

Closing date to submit all applications is April 6, 2018 at 10.00 am.
