German Ambassador pays farewell call on President Faure |14 June 2018
Her Excellency Ms Jutta Frasch, the ambassador of Germany to Seychelles since March 2016 has come to the end of her mandate and late yesterday afternoon she paid a farewell call on President Danny Faure at State House.
Ambassador Frasch’s term as German Ambassador to Seychelles will end in July 2018. Her visit was an opportunity for the president to thank her for her efforts to bolster bilateral ties between Seychelles and Germany during her tenure as Ambassador to Seychelles.
“The government of Seychelles greatly values the long-standing friendship and partnership that exists between Seychelles and Germany. The state of bilateral relations is excellent and we are confident that this will continue in the coming future with cooperation in other fields of mutual interest. Seychelles is highly appreciative of the strong support that Germany has and continues to provide and we hope that we can continue to count on Germany for support in meeting some of our development aspirations,” said President Faure.
Speaking after her last meeting with the president, Ambassador Frasch said she started her mandate at an opportune time when piracy was phasing out and tourism was picking up with visitors from Germany increasing considerably.
She expressed great satisfaction that more Germans are choosing Seychelles as their holiday destination and she noted that “to promote this kind of trade and economic relations together with very friendly political relations is wonderful”.
Ambassador Frasch added that during her mandate she has also tried to relook at the way the European Union conducts its dialogue here “because unlike other African countries Seychelles is considered a higher income country and so we cannot apply the same methods as to other countries on the continent where political dialogue is concerned. I think it is more important to promote private business and private business exchanges between Europe and Seychelles”.
She expressed the hope that she has managed to give some impetus to this.
Meanwhile, Ambassador Frasch said her successor, a lady, is expected to be named soon.
This year marks the 41st anniversary since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Seychelles and Germany on January 18, 1977.
Ambassador Frasch was accompanied on her farewell call to State House by the Honorary Consul of Germany in Seychelles, Kerstin Henri.
