YellowPages.sc – the new online directory for Seychelles – goes live |12 February 2009
The announcement was made by iMedia (Seychelles) Ltd, the local company contracted to publish and supply the printed Seychelles telephone directory and which now also manages the new online business directory.
YellowPages.sc will complement the printed Seychelles telephone directory by providing a new platform for businesses in Seychelles to advertise their products and services to a local and global audience.
In addition to the existing business contact details in the printed Yellow Pages, the new website will feature a range of extra information, giving local businesses the chance to describe their services, provide directions to their business locations, allow downloads of a brochure or a vCard and view a promotional video, display screenshots of their website and active link, alongside other useful information such as their opening hours and payment methods.
Another great advantage of YellowPages.sc is the fact that it is always up to date. Unlike the printed directory that is published on an annual basis, the online directory will be updated on a daily basis, giving new start-up businesses an immediate online presence while awaiting entry into the next edition of the Seychelles telephone directory.
“Although it has taken longer than planned to materialise, we are proud to be launching a professional and world-class product for the people of Seychelles,” said Gilbert Lebon, the managing director of iMedia (Seychelles) Ltd & the VCS Group.
“Our online directory is as advanced as the ones being used in many developed countries including Singapore, Australia and New Zealand.
YellowPages.sc is not only an informative and user-friendly website but a powerful marketing tool that local companies can take advantage of to promote their services locally and globally. We have a wide range of affordable listing and advertising options to suit all local businesses.”
The website was developed by local web development company Switch (Pty) Ltd, which also developed the new Air Seychelles website. The marketing manager of the Switch and the VCS Group, Hervé Chang-Yunn, said:
“Although YellowPages.sc is fully operational, we shall continue improving the site by adding new exciting features to maximise the users’ experience and enhance the advertisers’ visibility.
“For example, we plan to include a job search facility where businesses can pay to run their vacancy adverts. The great benefit of advertising on YellowPages.sc is that businesses can better measure the effectiveness of their advert by the number of times it appears on the website and how many times users click on it.
“Ultimately, we want YellowPages.sc to contain a library of comprehensive information on all businesses in the Seychelles Islands.”
Mr Lebon added: “On behalf of iMedia, I take this opportunity to thank all businesses that have advertised in YellowPages.sc and look forward to welcoming others in the future.”
The key features of YellowPages.sc include:
• Comprehensive business listings – users can search for a specific business by its name, category, keywords, phone number or letter of the alphabet;
• New listings section – displays new businesses added to the website;
• Weekly top searches – users can view the most popular searches every week;
• International Direct Dialling (IDD) country codes – area codes for all countries, including the time difference.
iMedia hopes that its new online business directory will offer valuable information to the local community as well as to visitors and looks forward to receiving feedback from the public. The company is also looking into the possibility of developing an online residential white pages directory in the near future.
iMedia is a private limited company that specialises in advertising, printing and marketing, and is part of the VCS Group of companies based in Victoria, Mahe, Seychelles. It produces the printed telephone and Yellow Pages directory as well as the official online business directory, “YellowPages.sc”, for the Seychelles Islands.
