Japanese MP and Chinese delegation call at STB

Mr St Ange (second right) presents a Seychelles book to the Chinese delegation

Mr Nishimura is the deputy chairman and chief secretary of the Japanese Liberal Democratic Party’s policy research council and also a member of Japan’s House of Representatives.

During his visit here he also met President James Michel, who holds the portfolio for tourism.

At the STB, Mr Nishimura and his delegation discussed, among other matters, the possible presence of his country at the International Carnival of Victoria in 2011, as well as investment possibilities.

Mr Nishimura, who was accompanied by an embassy representative, was fully briefed on the three-day celebrations being planned for next March and on the Seychelles Brand, the new vision for tourism development here.

The Japanese delegation's visit was followed by one from a Chinese delegation as part of follow-up talks on investment possibilities in hotels and restaurants and the need for air links between Seychelles and China.

The delegation was headed by Jiang Mingjun, co-chairman of the International Eco-Safety Assembly and included Cai Guo An, chief executive of the SPAN Company.

The delegation discussed investment options and air links using Seychelles as a secure and safe gateway into Africa.
Mr St Ange again took the opportunity to discuss the 2011 carnival and the desire to see China well represented at the event.
