C&W golf tournament a massive success – everybody wins! |05 November 2016

The annual Cable & Wireless golf tournament was held at the Seychelles golf club on October 29, 2016. Taking the shape of its customary better ball stableford format, over ten teams of four teed off, all dressed in their brand new C&W golf shirts and equipped with a keen desire to win one of the year’s best events!

Each team of four was asked to split into two pairings with the overall team score being the two net pairing scores added together. It was clear from the start that the company’s “fun for everyone” objective was not only going to be met, but exceeded as cries of excitement echoed around the ground as birdies and pars dropped into cups. 

The hot October sun could not stop the solid team performances and when the groups started coming in it was clear that it would be a very tight race to the finish line! 

After the rules committee took a close look at the scorecards the team of David Deltel, Richard D’Offay, Morgan Crowe and Jaden Deltel, despite carding what would have been a winning total of 84 net, were disqualified due to a technicality.

This ultimately opened the door for captain Guy Adam, Godfrey Andrade, Hevens Andrade and young Adrian Andrade to take the honours with a fine 81 net! Also scoring 81 net but losing on the count back was the team of Eddie Micock, Peter Moncherry, Joe Elisa and Louis Vandagne, while Kevin Hermitte, Jemmy Esther, Axel Andrade and Catney Laporte took third with 80 net.

Subsidiary prizes went to Nahim Agricole for his nearest to the pin in two shots on hole 4, Pascal Esparon who put his tee shot close to the pin on hole 8 and consistent big hitter Damien Hoareau for his longest drive on hole 14.

On hand to deliver the impressive prizes to the winners was C&W chief executive Charles Hammond, who thanked all the players for the fantastic turnout and the spirit in which the tournament was played. He also went on to confirm that C&W would continue to be a major sponsor of golf in Seychelles.

As dusk settled on the greens and fairways of the Seychelles golf club, the generous sponsors treated the players with some burgers and refreshments, ending what had once again been a perfect day of golf!
