Former Juventus goalkeeper Francesco Anacoura, who is also of Seychellois descent, has signed for Portugal’s second division side Clube Desportivo Cova da Piedade on a two-year contract.

Anacoura, 23, is 1.90m in height and graduated from the Inter Milan academy before moving to Juventus. He has spent the last four seasons under contract with Juventus and has always been loaned to other Italian clubs, such as Ancona in 2016/17.

The goalkeeper signed for two years with Cova da Piedade in a first experience outside of Italy.

Clube Desportivo Cova da Piedade are currently ranked seventh in the II Liga, with three points from two games.

Clube Desportivo Cova da Piedade are a football club established in the parish of Cova da Piedade, municipality of Almada, Portugal.

They were founded on January 28, 1947, resulting from the merge between União Piedense Futebol Clube, founded in April 1914, and Sporting Clube Piedense. Cova da Piedade's current president is Paulo Veiga.

On April 30, 2016, Cova da Piedade were promoted for the first time ever to the professional second-tier (all previous presences in the second-tier were prior to the creation of Segunda Divisão de Honra in 1990) after beating Angrense 2–1, confirming first place on Campeonato de Portugal, South Zone, with two more matches still to play.

Anacoura joins Pedro Alves and João Kuspiosz as the three goalkeepers of the Cova de Piedad side.

The Italian-born goalkeeper was once tipped as potential replacement for Italy and Juventus legend Gianluigi Buffon and now joins Carlos Siméon as the other player of Seychellois descent playing in Portugal. Simeon signed for division Maritimo.
