Foreign workers rights violated yet again |01 August 2019

Just a day after the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons was observed locally and the Association for Rights Information and Democracy’s (Arid) call for the government to intensify efforts to eradicate human trafficking and gross human rights violations, a group of Bangladeshi workers have stated to media house Telesesel that they feel that their rights are being violated by their employer.

According to the report, the group of workers were being assisted by an official from Arid on Wednesday to file a formal complaint against their employer, Blue Owl Security.

An emotional employee explained that their employer failed to deliver on his word to settle their salary payments last month, and that they have been left without money to buy food since the part of their salary which has been paid is remitted to their families.

Arid is helping the foreign workers so they can find some form of assistance with the government.

A representative of the organisation again asserted that the policies and laws in place pertaining to migrant workers need to be enforced and that the courts need to be faster in providing remedies to aggrieved employees.
