Covid-19 community transmission persists, related deaths reach 105, active cases increase |04 September 2021

In its latest update on Thursday on the Covid-19 situation in the country, the Public Health Authority has said community transmission is still persisting as all districts continue to report cases while another person has died with Covid-19 related complications bringing the number of such deaths to 105.

The seven-day moving average remains around 50.

The number of active cases on Mahé is now 511, an increase of 25 cases on the 486 recorded since the last update on Monday August 30. Active cases on La Digue has also increased by three, bringing the number to 16 from 13 since the last update and active cases on the other islands have also seen one additional case from three to four since the last update while the number of cases on Praslin remains the same at eight.

Meanwhile the Public Health Authority is urging the public to remain extra vigilant and to continue to strictly adhere to public health measures such as proper wearing of masks, physical distancing, among others to prevent a surge in new number of cases.
