Malik Kilindo is Anse Etoile school’s P6 Best Overall Achiever in the National Exams for the year 2020, having performed exceptionally well in science, Creole and social studies.
The pupil yesterday received numerous awards for his achievements during a ceremony held at the school to reward pupils of the Class of 2020 whose performances are outstanding, scoring 80 and above in the P6 national exams last year.
Malik, who is also one of the top performers nationally for social studies, has been described as a playful, well mannered and gentle student who enjoys reading books and entertaining his vivid imagination and educators at the institution.
The young cooking enthusiast enjoys discovering new tastes and recipes and always has a question for those around him.
When addressing guests and pupils Jacqueline Celestine, the head teacher of the school, noted that the pupils being honoured were among the best performers from the 58 who sat the examinations which determine the streams in which they are placed at secondary school level.
She added that the results were encouraging, with 16 pupils scoring A’s and three who performed exceptionally well to achieve A* grades, which goes to show that school management, staff and other stakeholders are keeping in line with the school’s motto, ‘Success is our target’.
Among the other awards given were the Best Performers Award for pupils who scored A’s in Maths, science, English, French, social studies and Creole. Michaella Anacoura was awarded for Creole along with Alexandra Joseph. Some pupils received more than one award, including Paco Alcindor who was recognised for both Creole and science. Samiellah Stephen took the same award for her performance in Creole and French and Isra Morgan in French and science.
Two students managed to score A’s in three national exams namely, Kerrah Kilindo who scored the grade in Creole, French and science and Ramia Marguerite, who was recognised and awarded for the same three subjects.
In addition, pupils who scored the highest in particular subjects were presented with the Best Academic Achievement Award. The awards went to Tina Qiu for Mathematics, Samia Edmond for Creole, Shaun Benstrong for French and Pearl Rose for English and French.
Following the presentation of awards in the presence of parents, school staff and invited guests, the school’s hall of fame was officially unveiled by Ms Celestine and the principal secretary for education services Odile de Comarmond.
PS de Comarmond said she is honoured to be present at the event and took a few moments to encourage the pupils to keep up the work in the respective secondary schools they are attending and that they keep striving to perform better.
She also thanked the school and noted that it is among the best four schools nationally in terms of performance in the 2020 national exams.
