Darts: National singles Nichol Esparon clinches third singles win in a row |20 October 2021
ESPARON … Third singles title in a row
Who is going to stop Nichol Esparon?
No doubt, this is the question the darts entourage must be asking after five rounds of competition ‒ both singles and doubles.
On Saturdayinside the Happy Youth Club darts room, Esparon put on another amazing display to win the National singles competition ‒ his third win in as many singles contests this year ‒ Curtain-raiser singles, Association singles and National singles. He also team up with Bernard Berlouis to win Association doubles competition.
After beating Paul Vidot 3-0 in the quarterfinal, Esparon defeated Hans Radegonde 5-3 in the semis to set up a thrilling final showdown with Terrance Hallock who had edged both Jack Micock 2-1 in the quarters and Edmond Azemia 5-4 in the semis.
Hallock captured the first game in the final, but Esparon equalised before taking a one-game lead at 2-1. When Hallock won the next three games, it looked as if he would pull off a win against Esparon but the latter showed why he was named player of the year last year. He brought the score to 6-4 in his favour with four wins in a row.
Hallock did not want to give in so easily, bagging two more wins to tie that score at 6-6, but Esparon had the last laugh after winning the 13th game for 7-6 score and victory in the National Singles competition.
Hans Radegonde finished third after beating Edmond Azemia 5-3 in the third place playoff match.
Seychelles Darts Association chairman Jack Micock registered the highest score in darts ‒ 180 ‒ despite losing to Hallock in the quarterfinal.
