Young Seychellois lady and Kenyan boyfriend found dead in Nairobi |10 November 2021
A young Seychellois lady and her 18-year-old Kenyan boyfriend were found dead on Monday November 8, 2021 at their rented house located in Umoja zone 8, Kamukunji in Nairobi county, Kenya, according to newspaper reports.
Contacted last night, the Seychelles police said they have received no official report of the incident but only read about it in the Kenyan media.
The names of the victims had not been released by the Kenyan police by the time this newspaper went to bed.
According to Kenya’s Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the duo’s decomposed bodies had multiple stab wounds and their hands had been fastened from behind.
The search for the two began after the man's grandfather tried contacting them but their mobile phones were switched off for days.
Apparently, the man's guardian from Seychelles had also tried to reach him but to no avail.
Triggered, the man's grandfather showed up at his house, only to be met with a foul smell and the door locked from outside using a padlock.
"Amid despondency and prayer that the worst had not happened to his grandson, the grandfather alerted Buruburu police, who arrived immediately and gained entry," reads a statement from DCI in part.
According to a tweet by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the 18-year-old man and his girlfriend (a Seychelles national) had struggled with their murderers before they were killed.
Detectives reported that there were signs of a struggle in the living room and bloody spatters all over the floor.
“Signs of vehement struggle at the living room and a bloody floor across a corridor leading to the restroom and the bedroom left responders mouth agape,” DCI tweeted.
"As police tip-toed across the rooms cautious enough not to disturb the scene, just by the toilet lay the lifeless body of a young woman soaked in blood," read the DCI statement in part.
They add that she had multiple stab wounds on the shoulder, breasts, lower abdomen.
"A peep at the bedroom sighted a second body of the grandson, sprawled on the floor and the neck tied with a cable. The hands too had been tied to the back with a piece of cloth, had multiple stab wounds on the back and a deep cut at the back of the neck.”
The deceased’s grandfather identified the body before it was transferred to the morgue for autopsy as the investigators commenced probing the two deaths.
Some of the household items including a 43-inch TV set, two laptops, a music system and the victims' mobile phones, were missing from the house.
Detectives processed the scene for crucial leads and secured the exhibits.
They have since launched investigations into the matter in a bid to unearth the mystery behind the killing and bring the perpetrator(s) to book.
