Clairvoyance, Premonitions, Paranormal and Dreams

Following my previous articles in your esteemed newspaper in which I explained briefly Past Life Regression and the Afterlife, now please allow me to cover the above subjects as well because there appears to be a great deal of confusion and misinformation on such subjects among the public at large.

A clairvoyant is a person who claims to have a supernatural ability to perceive events in the future or beyond normal sensory contact. There is no scientific evidence to show that the human mind or that of any other life form living on Earth today can predict events in the future. Around the world in different countries of different people speaking different languages, with varying skin colours and religious beliefs, some have formed parapsychological groups to assist them propagate the idea of psychic powers and supernatural capabilities to predict catastrophes like a tsunami or an earthquake but none of them have been able to prove such powers exist on Earth.

Huge amounts of research have been carried out and to this day there is no proof that any life form on Earth can predict future disasters. Observers however have noticed that just before an earthquake of volcanic eruption or a tsunami, birds and other animals have left the area en masse may be because they can feel the vibrations or rumbles of the ground and they leave the area. It is a well-known phenomenon that some animals have higher sensory feelings than humans.

Throughout mankind’s history on Earth there have been many false claims from clairvoyants, witch doctors, peddlers of various religions, voodoo practitioners who claim they can foretell the future and that they have psychic powers but they are false and mostly poor. The echelon of societies also has their so called psychics like the Greek philosopher Aristotle who was a student of Plato during the classical period in ancient Greece (384-322 BC). The most revered predictor of the future was Michel de Nostredame known as Nostradamus who was born in 1503 in France and he published his prophecies known as “quatrains” in 1547 and it is believed that some have come true but critics argue that they were so vague and wide ranging that some of them were bound to occur through normal sequence of historical events.

Precognition comes from the Latin word “praecognitio” meaning receiving advanced information about an event yet to happen. This in itself defies all laws of physics and reality because until there is a “cause” in other words an event happens there is no information of where, how, when, size, damage likely to be caused which means such an event does not exist in reality until it occurs.

Premonition is the feeling that something bad is about to happen but precognition is a deeper sense of knowing that extends beyond the emotional realm. Precognition tends to contain more information such as time and place. Premonitions occur mostly during waking hours because a higher sense of emotions exists during waking hours. People who believe in and indulge in precognition exercises also believe that someone is blessed with psychic powers which can be related to fortune tellers, prophets, second sights and voodoo practitioners.

The Occult in Seychelles is known as Bonhomme Du Bois or Gris Gris and came into existence with the arrival of the Telemaque ship on August 27, 1770 on St Anne Island when the first slaves arrived in Seychelles. They brought with them their occult beliefs and Gris Gris has been and still is practiced to this very day, 252 years later by some old folks who will not let go their beliefs and some have managed to pass their belief to the current generation. Seychellois to this day still travel to Madagascar looking for answers from the voodoo world, because they refuse to accept reality.

The late Ferdinand Vidot, a good friend of mine and my wife’s uncle and I used to discuss this subject regularly because some people saw him as a Bonhomme Du Bois (witch doctor) although he was the best and oldest herbalist in Seychelles. His medicines included specific dried leaves, boiled or roasted barks of certain trees and plants, roots from certain plants which contain medicines for certain ailments and yet people came to see him looking for a little powder (lapousyer) to put under someone’s house or doorstep to revenge and bring bad luck, illness and sufferings to someone in that house who needs to be punished for whatever reasons. He told me he had never dispensed any powder to anyone to cause harm and distress, he said he was asked but told people he was a herbalist and not a witch doctor.

I have studied psychology and if you let some know or that person can see you putting something under his/her house then for sure that person if he/she believes in the occult will have an adverse reaction either get sick or chase you with a knife all the way to the police station. My grandmother and my mother believed in the power of the occult but my generation and future generations are getting more intelligent and question the effect of the occult and today we understand how the human mind works to a great extent that we know such matters can be safely left in our history book.

The feeling of déjà vu is something that the human mind can explain to a certain degree but still not totally. Déjà vu in French means “already seen” so when you go somewhere for the first time and yet you get the feeling that you have been there before it is a spooky feeling. I have experienced this and I do not have an explanation because I cannot remember going there before. So where does such feelings come from? During Past Life Regression sessions, which I carry out using clinical hypnosis in my wellness clinic in Pointe Larue, my clients can reveal details of their past lives so in déjà vu it could be that this is a feeling that one is recalling from one of our past lives. I would be lying to you if I said that I fully understand what is going on. It is a known fact that certain drugs such as Taiminen, Jaaskelainen, amantadine and phenylpropanolamine intended to treat FLU symptoms can trigger déjà vu feelings but most people who experience déjà vu feelings are not on these drugs. When déjà vu occurs you get a weird feeling that you have been there before but you cannot work out when and for what purpose and it sends a shiver up the spinal column and the mind starts to work overtime. It feels almost like a mild shock.

Paranormal most times relate to anything we cannot explain in our day to day life on Earth and because we cannot explain, we assign matters such as God, ghosts, Spirit, the devil, heaven, hell, UFOs, all things we cannot touch, to another world. If you believe you can do something then your mind will find ways to accomplish what you believe in and throughout our brief history on this Earth mankind (homo sapiens) have accomplished great feats of endeavours like landing on the moon and exploring distant planets and the galaxy to creating modern medicines to protect us from pandemics and delay, not prevent, our extinction which the dinosaurs could not do.

Yet scientists, religions and holy men, artificial intelligence, practitioners of voodoo no one knows how mankind became to inherit the Earth, now we want to venture into being able to foretell the future? Come on give us a break. Some religious leaders still believe in putting fear in the people by warning them of the second coming, who said there will be a second coming? It sounds a bit like Covid-19 vaccinations when a second dose is not enough. Everyone is trying to pretend they have the answer when in truth no one knows the origin of man on Earth, cadet quaestio.

What is Telepathy and does it work? Well experiments have been conducted and some scientists have concluded that it works and they say it is even more effective when twins are used as subjects because of their DNA composition. In one experiment they showed pictures to a twin brother in London and they asked the other twin brother in New York to describe what is being shown to his twin brother in London and the correct answers were obtained, spooky yes but true. It seems we can communicate with our minds over long distances under certain conditions.

What is the Third Eye? It is an esoteric concept or belief of a speculative invisible eye located on the forehead which provides perception beyond ordinary sight which is a popular belief in Indian Spiritual traditions and it is also known as the “ajna” chakra. The Third eye is supposed to see what the biological eyes cannot see and it is supposed to provide extra sensory powers to those who possess such a gift. No one has yet been seen going around physically with a Third Eye on the forehead.

What is love and is love real and what is it that makes two people mostly of opposite sex want to share bodily fluids and create another human being? Today we know that love does not come from the heart because the heart is a complex set of muscles and valves that pumps blood around the body. The heart cannot display any emotions and we know that emotions such as love and hate originate from the hypothalamus in the brain and the brain carries the mind, which are made up of electro-chemical impulses. The Sub-conscious mind controls the memory so any information we hold are information already in our memory of events which have already occurred, therefore the hypothalamus cannot predict future events.

Dreams especially precognitive dreams are when you dream of something then it happens. Abraham Lincoln is supposed to have dreamt about his own assassination in the 1860s but the precise date is not given, passengers on board the Titanic such as Isaac Fruental and Eugene Daily were supposed to have dreamt about the Titanic sinking well before they boarded the Titanic so why did they go on the journey? Mark Twain revealed he dreamt about his brother’s body being buried in a metal coffin when in those days wooden coffins were used but when his brother died someone made a metal coffin for his brother. Julius Caesar’s wife, Calpurnia dreamt about her husband being assassinated in 59 BC and she warned him not to go to the Senate that day but he ignored her and he was assassinated.

Animals jerk their body when they are dreaming but why do some dreams come true, precognitive, is unknown and it happens by pure chance and not science. So there you have the answers and let us not propagate false information especially information likely to spread fear and panic in our society.
