Staff get better insight into social and personal needs of senior citizens

Elderly care, or simply eldercare, serves the needs and requirements of senior citizens, and it covers assisted living, adult day-care, as well as long-term care, all of which are being presently provided by local group Care Home Empowerment Agency (CHEA).

To boost its services, while emphasising more on the social and personal requirements of the clients, the agency organised a one-day workshop for its staff on Saturday to familiarise them with the daily growing trend and requirements of the job.

The workshop, which took place at the Les Mamelles district administration office and facilitated by local consultant Leslie Judith, was also the opportunity for the care workers to develop their knowledge and understanding of caring for the elderly, while understanding the principles of elderly care, and learning more about common health issues.

According to the manager of the agency, Manette Nourrice, the training serves as induction, and will be compulsory for all staff that joins the CHEA.

She added that as they get acquainted and settle within the job, continuous trainings will be conducted to upgrade their level, helping them to deliver a better service.

Founded late last year by Ms Nourrice and her cousin Rita Nibourette Sorkpah, the agency provides professional home care not only for the elderly but other people who require the service.

Its mission is to encourage and provide quality service for elderly and disabled clients in the comfort of their homes.
