Students invited to submit video message on World Oceans Day |17 February 2022
The Danny Faure Foundation is inviting students aged 13 to 17 years to submit a message on the occasion of the United Nations World Oceans Day, which is commemorated on June 8. This year’s theme for the United Nations World Oceans Day is ‘Revitalization: Collective Action for the Ocean’.
Ocean governance – protecting the Ocean as the beating blue heart of our planet, and the Blue Economy as the next frontier of sustainable development are two pillars of the Danny Faure Foundation.
The 15 best video messages will be forwarded to the Inter-Governmental Oceanographic Commission of Unesco, Oceans and Natural Resources in the Commonwealth secretariat, Friends of Ocean Action, World Economic Forum, La Francophonie and also uploaded on the Danny Faure Foundation’s website, YouTube channel, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedInpages where they can be viewed by the public.
Aim
The Foundation aims at sensitising young people and raising public awareness on ocean protection for future generations.
Parameters
The competition is open to students of age 13 to 17 years. Participants are encouraged to be creative and innovative. Interested participants should record a video message.
- The video must not exceed 2 minutes.
- The message should promote ocean protection and call for collective action for the Ocean.
- The video must be filmed either in the ocean or on the beach
- The message could be written, spoken, sung or in sign language. Subtitles should be included on messages that use sign language.
- Messages must be in either English or French
- Each participant may submit only one video
Safety Guidelines
- Safety precautions must be observed while filming to avoid injury or loss of life.
- Children must seek permission from their parent or guardian before uploading photos or videos of themselves on the internet. A person is legally considered as a child if he or she is under the age of 18 years old
Copyright
Video messages must be original and should be in line with laws that govern the use and protection of intellectual property.
Deadline
Interested participants have until April 30, 2022 to submit their video message. Entries submitted after the specified date will not be considered.
