PUC explains reasons for power outages in La Misère areas |18 February 2022
The Public Utilities Corporation (PUC) wishes to inform members of the public that the power outages which occurred on Wednesday February 16, 2022, affecting the La Misère areas were due to two factors.
The first was due to planned maintenance works undertaken during the day, which involved the replacement of three rotten poles, line retention as well as vegetation management works.
The second outage was due to a breakdown caused by external factors at around 7:30pm, affecting customers from Plaisance to La Misère.
Thanks to reports of abnormal noise on the electricity network by customers in the La Louise area, PUC was able to mobilise and identify the fault quickly. A bat which had been electrocuted was found under the pole and the lines were entangled. Power supply was restored within one hour at 8:30pm.
The PUC encourages its customers to report observations of abnormal activity on its infrastructure, especially in connection with power outages or breakdowns, on telephone number 4678910.
The corporation would also like to thank the affected customers for their patience and understanding.
