   Athletics: Vital Regional Grand Prix     Vadivello 400m silver medallist, Sicobo wins 100m bronze

Caleb Vadivello is the 400m silver medallist of the Vital Regional Grand Prix held in Mauritius, while Dylan Sicobo is the 100m bronze medallist.

In the 400m final at the Côte d’Or stadium, Vadivello was ranked second with a new personal best time of 48.80 seconds. His previous best was 49.09 seconds set in Ivory Coast in 2019.

Vadivello, who had clocked 49.74 seconds in the heats, had this to say to Sports NATION: “I am satisfied with my performance and the time. It’s a new personal best.”

The 400m gold medal was won by Mauritian Sébastien Clarisse in a time of 48.20 seconds.

Meanwhile, Seychelles’ 100m record holder Dylan Sicobo could only clock 10.64 seconds to settle for third position and the bronze medal in the 100m final.

Sicobo’s 100m record stands at 10.33 seconds and he set it in the final of the Eighth Jeux de la Francophonie which he won to claim the gold medal in Ivory Coast in 2017.

Mauritian Noah Bibi won the race in a time of 10.32 seconds and was followed in second position by one of his compatriots with 10.51 seconds.

Seychelles was represented by three other sprinters but they failed to get a place on the medals podium.

Janos Moncherry reached the finals of the 100m and 200 m races, Jerold Alexis took part in the 100m and 200m, while Gael Barreau competed in the 100m.

The athletes were accompanied by coach Giovanni Fanny.
