Murder trial of Berney Appasamy continues |31 May 2022
Jurors, defence lawyers visit alleged murder site
The jurors, defence lawyers Olivier Chang Leng and Tony Juliette and other judiciary officials in the ongoing murder trial of Berney Appasamy yesterday morning visited the vacant and abandoned property at Bougainville where the decomposed body of Appasamy was found in September last year.
The aim of the visit was to allow them to see for themselves the site where the murder is alleged to have taken place and have a better understanding of how the crime may have been committed.
The case will continue to be heard today when the prosecution is expected to make its closing remarks followed by the defence lawyers as well as a final summary by the presiding judge, Mohan Burhan.
The jurors are expected to give their verdict in the case on Friday this week.
