Zil Air aircraft burst tyre forces closure of Praslin airport runway |21 July 2022

The Praslin airport runway was closed for one hour 36 minutes yesterday evening, after a Zil Air aircraft burst a tyre upon landing.

The incident happened at 5.31pm upon landing of the aircraft.

Domestic operations were suspended during that time. No one sustained any injury during the incident, and there was no damage to neither the aircraft nor the airport infrastructure.

After inspection and declared safe for operation, the runway re-opened at 7.17pm.

The damaged tyre was replaced, and the aircraft is now back in service.
