Cricket Host of matches bring spectacles |23 July 2022
Cricket lovers had a host of matches to watch last weekend at both the Persévérance and Roche Caïman grounds as women’s and men’s teams were in action in the many ongoing competitions.
In the SCA Women’s T-15 League, Roaring Lions won by 19 runs against Kilo Game.
Roaring Lions won the toss and opted to bat, scoring 103/5 in 15 overs. As for Kilo Game, they could only get 84/1 in 15 overs to lose the match by 9 runs.
With 44 runs, Manisha Kanbi of Roaring Lions was voted player of the match.
The second match saw GSP 7 A take on Spartan Warriors in the SCA T10 League.
With Sachin (24 runs) and Selvakumar Thirumal (22 runs and 2 wickets), GSP7 A scored 81/6 in 10 overs and then restricted the Warriors to just 59/7 in 10 overs to win the match by 22 runs.
With his performance of 22 runs and 2 wickets, Selvakumar Thirumal was named match of the match.
In the Amazon Betting T20 Challenge 2022 reserved for division one teams, SL United triumphed by 10 runs against Deevas Kings.
SL United scored 135/10 in 19.2 overs, compared to Deevas Kings’ 125/6 in 20 overs.
The best performers for SL United were Thimeera Madhusanka (40 runs and 1 wicket) and Rashen Desilva (62 runs and 1 wicket). Desilva also won the player of the match award.
For Deevas Kings, the top scorers were Udhayan Sivakumar (36 runs and 1 wicket), Vijeesh Gopi (32 runs) and Deepak Radhakrishnan (19 runs and 2 wickets).
In the day’s second Amazon Betting T20 Challenge match, Narayan XI won by 5 wickets against Gran Kaz Kings.
Gran Kaz Kings won the toss and opted to bat, scoring 117/9 in 20 overs. In response, Narayan XI hit 123/5 in 17.3 overs to win the match by 5 wickets.
Govind Kerai (33 runs and 1 wicket) and Ajit Vekariya (33 runs and 1 wicket) top-scored for Narayan XI. The best player prize was given to Ajit Vekariya
As for Gran Kaz Kings, Islam finished with 79 runs and 2 wickets.
Two Savy & Sons Super League T20 division two matches were also played at the Roche Caïman ground.
Patel Youth won by 6 wickets against Spartan warriors A.
After winning the toss, Spartan Warriors A opted to bat, scoring 123/10 in 19.1 overs, but Patel Youth’s 123/5 in 17.3 overs was enough to earn them the win by 6 wickets.
The best performers for Spartan Warriors A were Praveen Kumar (29 runs and 2 wickets) and Gokul (22 runs).
For Patel Youth, Nayan Hirani (33 runs and 2 wickets), Pravin Gorasiya (48 runs), Naresh (3 wickets) were the best scorers. Nayan Hirani also won the layer of the match award.
BD Tigers and Spartan Warriors met in the second match and victory went to the latter.
Spartan Warriors won the toss and opted to bat and they scored 129/7 in 20 overs.
AS for BD Tigers, they could only score 117/10 in 20 overs, thus handing victory to Spartan Warriors by 12 runs.
The best performers for Spartan Warriors were Karthik (82 runs and 1 wicket) and Islam Saidul (4 runs and 6 wickets). Saidul was named player of the match.
For BD Tigers, Ashik get 52 runs and 1 wicket, while Rahul Islam finished with 3 wickets.
