Artists put on charity show for colleague Sheila Paul   |16 August 2022

A group of singers and musicians are coming together to raise fund for Sheila Paul’s overseas treatment.

Around twenty popular artists are hosting a charity show at Buckinarms Palace on Saturday August 20, where they will be performing popular songs by Sheila’s father, the late Raymond Lebon.

According to the main organiser, Sly, all the artists who were approached have agreed to do the charity concert free of charge. She initially contacted Mervin Camille and Joseph Sinon, who agreed straight away to feature in this charity event dedicated to Sheila.

“This shows unity and solidarity among our local artists, and I am so grateful that the response has only been positive from everybody. It is refreshing to see that we can come together for such a great cause, and we are all willing to do this for our sister, friend, colleague, to help her regain her health,” said Sly.

Sly and Sheila started their musical career back in 1994 as renowned duo, Ladylike with their first album, Lekel.

Sheila later ventured on her own, producing two albums, where she honoured her late father and sang some of his greatest hits.

According to Sly, it was fitting therefore that the artists perform these same songs on Saturday.

The 45-year-old mother of two is also renowned for her hit song ‘C’est toi la vie’.

Saturday’s show at Buckinarms Palace starts at 6pm and tickets are on sale at R150 apiece.

Sly is inviting all fans to turn up to support the cause and has also thanked all the singers and musicians who have responded positively to this noble cause.

“This is excellent team work, and a lot of positivity and it shows we can come together, show compassion to our dear friends and colleagues and lift each other up when we fall so I am so happy for the response,” said Sly.

It should be noted that the group plans to hold similar events for other artists who need their assistance.

“We are also grateful to Buckinarms Palace for providing us with the venue free of charge for such a great cause,” she said.

All proceeds from the sale of tickets will go to Sheila Paul.
