Vijay International School students celebrate excellent exam results

Davide Bouchereau (5A*, 1A, 1B, 1E) and Anjali Grandcourt (1A*, 4A, 4B), two of the top performing S5 students

IGCSE level students at Vijay International School Praslin (VISP) this week received their results from Cambridge International Examinations and the outcomes were superb.

Following outstanding A-Level results last week, students at VISP were able to secure excellent grades at IGCSE level as well. This, in spite of a two-year period where learning has been heavily disrupted by Covid-19 with enforced school closures.

Individual students scored superb outcomes, while the headline figures for the school overall were very pleasing. Top performing S5 students were Davide Bouchereau (5A*, 1A, 1B, 1E), Anjali Grandcourt (1A*, 4A, 4B) and Aarya Senthil (1A*, 3A, 5B). Overall, 75% of students scored the benchmark 5 A* - C grades usually required to move on and study at Advanced Level. The school was also pleased that 98% of exams were passed and 74% were passed at the higher level, C or above. The majority of the cohort will remain at VISP to complete their Advanced Level studies.

S4 students at VISP also sat their English Language and French exams a year early and the results were also excellent with the vast majority of students scoring C grade or better in both subjects. In particular, Victoria Rouillon, Emma Labuschagne, Isabelle Labuschagne and Ethan Levy-Trioullier all scored A* in both subjects. These students will progress on to S5 where they will sit between 7 and 9 more IGCSEs next year.

Head teacher Mark Howell was delighted with the results and praised the students for their hard work over the past two years.

“These results are the best IGCSE results since 2018 for students at VISP and considering the circumstances they faced, we could not be more proud. Schools around Seychelles were frequently closed over the past two years and for these students to receive such excellent outcomes in spite of this is a remarkable achievement. We are glad that all of our students are able to move on to their preferred A-Level or vocational education provider and wish them all the best in the future.”

Places at VISP are still available for September in some classes, including IGCSE and A-Level classes and enrolment is taking place now. Please email head teacher Mark Howell at mhowell@visp-sey.com for any further details about the school.
