Local artists rally for second charity show |09 September 2022

• Celebrating Simon Amade’s musical career

Following a successful sold-out show last month to raise funds for singer Sheila Paul, a group of local singers and musicians named ‘Kolaz’ are back with a second charity event, this time in honour of renowned artist, Simon Amade.

The show will take place tonight at the Buckinarms Palace Nightclub, Au Cap.

According to the organisers, similar to Sheila, Simon, 58, is in need of overseas medical treatment and the proceeds from the show will go directly towards his travel and treatment.

Speaking to Seychelles NATION, Sly, a member of ‘Kolaz’, said the same team is returning with a collection of songs by the artist who became known in the 1980s onwards with popular tunes like ‘Si mon ti konnen’, ‘Zwe Yoyo’, ‘Desizyon’, and ‘Rozana’ among others.

This time around, they are joined by some other popular veteran artists who will be performing at Buckinarms Palace Nightclub. They include Ralph Amesbury, Joe Samy, Essay Quatre, Jose Charles, Vincent Larue, Melvina Matatiken as well as newcomer Andy Wirtz.

“I am happy to say that everybody agreed to join this noble cause as soon as they were approached. We are forever grateful and we promise another wonderful performance, so I would urge Simon’s fans to come down, because it will be a celebration of this great artist’s musical career,” said Sly.

During his musical career that spanned over four decades, Simon’s mostly ‘sega’, ‘zouk’ and reggae beats helped him garner a huge group of fans ranging from the young to the old and Sly said she hopes the fans will turn up to hear his songs being interpreted by other artists.

The singers will be accompanied by live band and tickets for the show at R150 apiece are already on sale.

Meanwhile organisers say that arrangements are also being made for those who will not be present tonight but who would like to contribute to Simon’s charity event.
