Jayden Sinon leads the pack

• Another team victory for Vélo Club de l’Ouest

Jayden Sinon is the grand winner of the 73.8km road race organised by the Seychelles Cycling Association on Sunday, while his team, the Vélo Club de l’Ouest (VCDL), once again finished as the best team, taking their winning total to five in as many races.

For Sunday’s race which started at Stad Linite, the cyclists went downtown via Bois de Rose Avenue, before heading towards Anse Etoile, via Perseverance.

Upon reaching North East point, they made a U-turn and went back the same route, and once at Roche Caïman they went up to Providence via the highway, up to Pointe Larue, Anse Aux Pins, Au Cap, Anse Royale, Takamaka, Baie Lazare, Anse à la Mouche, Santa Maria, Les Canelles, down to Anse Royale and back to Roche Caïman via the same route.

Sinon took two hours, four minutes and 30 seconds (2hr04:30) to finish the race first, ahead of team mate Sebastien Florentine who took the runner-up spot in 2hr04:55.

Jahdel Gabriel, also of the VCDL was third overall, also finishing in 2hr04:55, a chrono shared by team mate Stephane Belle who was fourth overall.

Julian Pool of the Northern Cycling Riders (NCR) finished fifth overall in 2hr05:56, finishing ahead of Ahmad Arissol of the VCDL who finished sixth, also in 2hr05:56.

Chris Uzice of the Vélo Club de l’Ouest Academy (VCDL Academy) was seventh overall in 2hr08:18, ahead of Yohan Monthy of the Option Max Cycling Club (OMCC) who was eighth in 2hr12:50.

Ashley Toussaint who rides for the VCDL Academy finished ninth overall in 2hr13:09, a time shared by Jeff Esparon of the OMCC and Dominic Arrisol of the (One Shot Pain Cycling Club – OSPCC) who were 10th  and 11th respectively.

Lauren Jacques of the VCDL Academy was the 12th cyclist to cross the finishing line, clocking 2hr14:55, finishing ahead of NCR’s Ricky Rosalie who was the last rider to complete the 73.8km road race.

Rosalie clocked 2hr25:00.

The next event on the calendar is a team time trial scheduled for next Sunday.
