Narayan XI beat Rising Stars in women’s T20 challenge
Narayan XI won against Rising Stars in the Shrihari group women’s T20 Challenge.
Winning the toss, Rising Stars opted to bat first and managed to score a maximum of 95 in 20 overs, losing 5 wickets.
Mary Moncherry (6) stabilised their innings and was the best among their batsmen, while Vasanti Patel of Narayan XI bowled so well and removed 4 wickets.
While chasing the target of 96 runs, Geetaben Hirani (19), Malshini Senaratne (17) and Shreya Hirani (15) led the Narayan XI team to victory with Sheila Chua and Uchi Mwale of Rising Stars both picking 1 wicket each.
Vasanti Patel of Narayan was selected as the player of the match for her bowling performance.
Amazon Betting T20 Championship (division 1)
In the morning, Vijay Warriors won by 7 runs against SL United, who after winning the toss opted to bowl first.
Despite of losing early wickets, batsmen Mohit Dadhwal (22) and Rocket (20) played responsibly to set up a maximum score of 100 runs, losing 8 wickets in 20 overs.
Niroshan Madumal (3 wickets) and Sampatha Chameera (2 wickets) were the best among the SL United bowlers.
While chasing the target, despite some responsible batting from skipper Lahiru H (22) and Dulaj Perera (17), SL United lost their wickets to Vijay Warriors as Mohit Dadhwal (4 wickets) and Krishna Naidoo (2 wickets) drove them to victory.
Mohit Dadhwal of Vijay Warriors was awarded the player-of-the-match award for his all-round performance.
Meanwhile, in the afternoon, Lakstars won by 6 wickets against the BD Tigers.
BD Tigers opted to bat after winning the toss. Bowlers Chamara Fernando (4 wickets) and Sarath Fernando (3 wickets) bowled responsibly to collapse the batting line-up of BD Tigers, despite responsible batting from skipper APPU (22) and Jahid (21), Lakstars restricted them to a maximum score of 85.
While chasing the target, Harsha Madhusanka (21) and Daminda Dhananjaya (18) played responsibly to chase the target of 86 runs at the 14th over, losing just 4 wickets to BD Tigers.
Chamara Fernando was awarded the player-of-the-match award for his bowling performance.
Vijay Premier League T20 (division two)
The morning match between Vijay Vikings and Seychelles Rockers scheduled to be played at the Roche Caïman field was abandoned due to unplayable conditions and both teams were awarded one point.
The afternoon match was between Deevas Kings and newcomers Global Warriors. The latter won the toss and opted to bat first.
Despite of losing their early wicket, Global Warriors’ batsmen Shiva (25), Shahid (18) played responsibly and dragged the innings till 20 overs and scored a maximum of 102 runs, losing 7 wickets to Deevas’ bowlers. Selvakumar Natarajan of Deevas bowled a magical spell of 4 overs with one maiden and conceded just 7 runs and picked 3 wickets.
While chasing the target of 103 runs, Deevas Kings lost their opening batsmen on the first over of the match. But a solid 79-run partnership between Pankaj Rawat (43) and skipper Deepak Radhakrishnan (37) helped them to cruise to victory by 8 wickets in the 13th over.
Selvakumar Natarajan of Deevas Kings was named player-of-the-match for his bowling performance.
