E2C receives grant under the Unesco Participation Programme |15 June 2023

In its second year of existence, Educate to Connect (E2C) – a non government organisation (NGO) registered on July 21, 2021 – has successfully applied and been awarded a grant under the Unesco Participation Programme to undertake a project titled ‘Mon Kontan Matematik’.

The objective of the project is to publish Maths videos, focusing on topics from the Primary Maths curriculum. This represents an additional learning tool for children, parents and teachers.

The videos will be produced locally and show how Maths is around us and parents interact with their children using Maths during daily activities.

The videos will also reinforce the link between Maths learnt at school and everyday life.

The impact of the videos is not limited to Maths but strengthening relationships between parent and child, forging stronger connections as parent and child observe, discuss and engage during routine activities.

So what better way for E2C to start with its first funded project targeting parents as educators as education is not limited to schools.

The videos will be available to everyone to aid in communication and learning.

E2C remains focused to make education everyone’s business by facilitating discussions and actions across sectors and empowering individuals at community level to support and contribute to the success of our children’s education.

E2C has thanked its partners during these 2 years: the NGO has collaborated with other NGOs namely TRASS and Gaea Seychelles to launch the Little Explorer’s Club at Bel Ombre also supported by the Bel Ombre district administration.

This approach of networking with other more seasoned NGOs has been beneficial as it has provided the opportunity to learn from the masters.

E2C has also networked with Bel Ombre primary school to pilot its ambition to make education everyone’s business.

E2C also wishes to share the winners of the E2C logo competition launched at Bel Ombre primary school in 2022. In first place is Shana Freminot, followed in second place by Mikella Grandcourt. Third is Rio Dodin.

E2C thanks its sponsors from Bel Ombre for the prizes and everyone who has lent a helping hand.
