UniSey holds first ever stakeholders thanksgiving event

The speakers

The University of Seychelles (UniSey) held its first ever stakeholders thanksgiving event on June 27, 2023 at the Gastro Lounge, Bel Ombre.

The event was organised as a networking opportunity for all stakeholders. The university wanted to show its gratitude towards them, and strengthen the continuous business relationship and develop new businesses.

The event consisted of multiple presentations including the presentation of UniSey’s achievements from 2020 to the present day made by Dolivette Chang-ko, the director of marketing and communications who also announced the launch of two new programmes being introduced at the university. These two are BSc (Honours) in Tourism and Travel Economics and BSc (Honours) in Finance and Economics.

The vice-chancellor, Joelle Perreau, said that she is not yet sure if this event will be an annual one but next year’s one will be bigger and more special as the university will be celebrating 15 years since its opening.

“We wanted to do this because our institute always asks for help from outdoor sources and this is a gesture of thanks to all those that have helped us in one way or another,” she said.

She added that through conversations with the partners they established what courses are being requested by entities, such as the government and private partners also.

“These two courses were the ones with high demand that were most urgent. We went through SQA (Seychelles Qualifications Authority) and it got fully validated and we are expecting a lot of students,” she said.
