Special mass honours renowned gospel artist Jean Ally

“Bondye Lanmour ranpli ek lagras

Bondye Sover ranpli ek konpasyon

Depi mon’n konn li, i sours mon lavi

I’n promet mwan, i pa pou kit mwan tousel...”

This verse is not new to most of us, especially those of us who enjoy listening to gospel songs to keep us spiritually grounded. It is the first verse from one of the most popular spiritual songs in Seychelles – Bondye Lanmour composed and sung by renowned veteran artist Jean Ally.

It was a moment of great joy for the congregation gathered at the Pentecostal Assembly of Seychelles on December 24, as Brother Jean, as he is well known at his church, was honoured in a special mass.

In the presence of his family and friends, Brother Jean was honoured for his 30 years of service to the church. Bondye Lanmour and all the other songs used during the mass held at the church located at Riverside, Bel Eau, were his compositions. These songs included ‘Thank you Jesus’, Mars ek Zezi, ‘Your words’ and ‘Loue, loue, Loue’.

He has composed and sung many beautiful, inspiring and uplifting gospel songs throughout the years. The artist released his first gospel album entitled ‘The Blessing of God’ in 2003, followed by ‘The Glory of God’ and ‘The Fruit of the Spirit’. He has been an active member of his church and a worship leader of the praise and worship ministry of the Pentecostal Assembly of Seychelles.

“I felt very happy and emotional on Sunday when accepting this blessing. I do not know if I will have other future compositions but if it is God’s plan so His will shall be done,” he said when speaking about this special moment of his spiritual journey.

He joined the world of music in the late 1970s and across the years he was among the artists performing in various national events, singing mostly about unity and peace.
