High Commissioner of Rwanda to Seychelles, Fatou Harerimana, paid a courtesy visit to Minister Flavien Joubert, following her accreditation at State House earlier yesterday.

At the outset, Ms Harerimana emphasised the importance of establishing a joint working committee to execute the various agendas of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the field of agriculture signed between the two nations last year.

This joint working committee would serve as a platform for enhancing collaboration and facilitating the implementation of various provisions outlined in the MoU.

Minister Joubert, underscoring the shared climatic conditions and mutual interests between Seychelles and Rwanda, reiterated the significance of prioritising environmental protection and food security initiatives.

Recognising the critical role these issues play in both countries, both delegates concurred on the urgency of expediting the formation of a joint working committee aimed at implementing the different components within the MoU.

In response, Minister Joubert affirmed the government's commitment to working closely with communities to foster environmental stewardship.

He highlighted ongoing initiatives, including collaborations between the environment and education ministries, which aim to educate the younger generation in schools nationwide about sustainable practices.

Minister Joubert noted the ripple effect of such educational efforts, with students likely to influence their parents to adopt similar environmentally friendly behaviours at home.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both delegates expressing optimism about the future prospects of bilateral cooperation between Seychelles and Rwanda. As they continue to work towards shared goals of environmental sustainability and food security, these diplomatic efforts serve as a testament to the strong and enduring relationship between the two nations.
