  • Slim qualifying chances for Premium Spikers after two losses

Vice-champions Arsu have started their campaign at the ongoing 28th African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB) Zone 7 Volleyball Club Championships taking place in Madagascar with two victories out of their two group matches played, while Premium Spikers’ chance of moving further in the competition is now quite slim after losing both of their group matches played so far.

Drawn in group B, Arsu won their first match 3-0 (25-20, 25-12, 25-18) against Tranquebar Black Rangers of Mauritius on Saturday, before beating Zamfi Club de Mtezamboro of Mayotte 3-0 yesterday in their second group match. The set scores were 25-9, 25-12, and 25-6.

With only one match left to play in the group – against Squad X-Club – Arsu have already qualified for the next round of the competition.

As for Premium Spikers who are playing in group D, they lost their first match on Saturday – 1-3 (25-22, 16-25, 23-25, 18-25) – against Club Sportif Pamplemousses from Mauritius, before losing their second game 0-3 yesterday against St Denis Olympique of Reunion. The set scores were 11-25, 14-25, and 17-25.

Their third and last group match will be against Faucon Flacq Camp-Ithier of Mauritius.

Seychelles other female representatives at the championships, league Champions City Ladies debuted their inaugural participation on a high, defeating Volleyball Club de Côte Ouest of Reunion 3-1 (23-25, 25-13, 25-14, 25-14).

City Ladies are in group D alongside Orange Club of Rodrigues, Volleyball Club de Côte Ouest of Reunion and Akany Sambatra Itaosy of Madagascar.

Also making their debut at the championships are Premium Cobras Ladies who have been drawn in group A, along with Gendarmerie Nationale of Madagascar, and Tampon Gecko of Reunion.

In their first group match yesterday, Premium Cobras Ladies were up against Gendarmerie Nationale.
