National Assembly discusses Fifa Beach Soccer World Cup 2025 funding
The National Assembly began its second term yesterday, with a question from the Leader of the Opposition (LOTO) in the National Assembly, Hon. Sebastien Pillay, about the funding of the recent FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup held in Seychelles from May 1 to May 11.
Hon. Pillay asked why government funds were used for the event, especially after President Wavel Ramkalawan had earlier announced that the organising committee had secured US $5 million in sponsorship. He also asked under which budget heading this money was taken from.
In response, Vice President Ahmed Afif explained that all government expenses, including those from grants and loans, go through the consolidated fund.
