The Seychelles National Choir graced the State House with their harmonious voices, in a concert organised in hopes to raise funds for the New Seychelles Hospital. This was done from a collaboration between the Office of the President of Seychelles and the National Arts and Crafts Council.
During the prestigious event, it was revealed that the choir raised R123,600 for the New Seychelles Hospital. The donation was handed over to the Head of State, President Wavel Ramkalawan, who expressed his gratitude towards the National Choir for bringing forth this initiative and complimented the choir on their heavenly singing.
According to chorist and organiser, Terrence Gomme, the plan has been in the making since last year. “As a choir, we constantly strive to assist the population, particularly through fundraising activities. Our intention was to host the event at the State House, as it is a venue that many would desire to visit for a prestigious occasion,” stated Mr Gomme.
According to him, there was no major challenges since the choir has organised several shows in the past. However, as the day approached, it was a race against time to sell all the tickets. In the end, it was a sold-out show.
