Victoria comes alive for Children’s Day carnival
By Anika Cathene
Victoria burst into colour, music and laughter on Saturday as the Children’s carnival took centre stage in honour of Children’s Day and the 45th anniversary celebrations of the National Council for Children.
With the streets overflowing with excited families and vibrant decorations, the event truly embodied its theme of joy and celebration, putting the creativity, unity and spirit of children in the spotlight.
The festivities began at 3pm with the much-anticipated carnival parade, which set off from the Stad Popiler car park. Crowds lined the streets as the parade made its way through Victoria, along Rue de la Possession towards the Clock Tower, along Independence Avenue and the Constitution Avenue, before returning to the starting point.
The spectacle featured 21 dazzling floats, each designed and decorated by different schools, showcasing a mixture of themes, colours, and imagination. Leading the parade was the ever-energetic Mozaik Band and the talented Taniah, joined by the harmonious voices of the Twinkle Choir, the electrifying All Stars Group, and the graceful performers from the Artistic Dance Factory. As the parade danced through the streets, multiple DJs stationed along the route kept spirits high with a mix of music, energising the crowd.
