Swimming: Mauritius Winter National Championships

Mahe Skimmers Sports Club swimmers strong off the starting blocks

Compared to last year when the final medals total was 41 after four days of competition, Mahe Skimmers Sports Club entered this year’s Winter National Championships, taking place at the sports complex of Côte d’Or in Mauritius, swinging, collecting 21 medals on day one of the event which will go until tomorrow.

On day one – on Thursday – the local club garnered seven gold, eight silver, and six bronze medals.

The gold medals came courtesy of Alisa Pepelina (800m freestyle and 50m breaststroke – girls 14-15 years), Anthony Morning (1500m freestyle – boys 14-15 years), Cornelius Opperman (1500m freestyle – boys 12-13 years), Conrad Opperman (50m butterfly – boys 10-11 years), Hari Patel (50m butterfly – boys 12-13 years old), Adam Moncherry (50m butterfly – men 18 years and over).
