Referees Terry Mothée, Marie Annette Vidot get international and continental accreditations
Local judo officials Terry Mothée and Marie Annette Vidot have been accredited as continental and world level referees respectively, following successful completion of their international refereeing examinations held in Pretoria, South Africa recently.
As a world-level judo referee, Mothée is now a highly experienced and skilled official, having achieved the highest level of refereeing certification within the International Judo Federation (IJF) and can officiate at major international judo events, including World Championships and Olympic Games.
As for Vidot, as a continental-level judo referee, she has achieved a specific level of qualification within the African Judo Union (AJF), allowing her to officiate at continental-level competitions.
The IJF International Referees Examinations are coordinated by the IJF Refereeing Commission in cooperation with the Continental Judo Unions, and each continent should host every second year, one IJF international examination.
The recommended number for one IJF International Referees examination is 15 candidates for the organising continent, and in addition, a number of five candidates from other continents are accepted.
The examinations include both theory and practical sessions.
In a press release, chairperson of the Seychelles Judo Federation (SJF), Sandra Jeanne, noted that the two achievements represent significant milestones, not only for the two officials, personally, but also for the ongoing growth and development of judo in Seychelles.
