Football academy for young boys receives generous ball donation from parent
A new football team have emerged in Seychelles – the D10 Academy, led by local football legend and star Don Anacoura. What began in February as a small initiative for boys primarily from Anse Etoile has rapidly grown into a thriving academy, now attracting young players from across Mahé.
The youth football programme, dedicated to nurturing talents in Seychelles, received a generous donation of footballs from parent Coline Madeleine during a training session on Saturday. The contribution will support the academy’s training initiatives and help develop fundamental football skills among boys aged 5 to 12 years.
Coach Don Anacoura, who leads weekly sessions at the Mini Stadium, expressed his gratitude for the donation, highlighting its impact on player development.
“We are truly grateful for this kind contribution,” he said. “These balls will help our young players refine their techniques and deepen their love for the game.”
He emphasised the importance of proper equipment at this stage of training: “Consistent practice with quality gear is essential. These new footballs will allow us to run more effective drills and keep sessions dynamic and engaging.”
The academy focuses on skill development, discipline, and fostering a passion for football in children. It also encourages parental involvement, recognising their role in building a strong football community.
“Parents play a key part in their child’s football journey,” coach Anacoura added. “Whether through sideline support or contributions like Coline’s, their engagement makes a big difference.”
Since its launch, D10 Academy has prioritised updated training gear to ensure proper technique and motivation. The donation will help accommodate its growing number of young players while maintaining high standards.
Training sessions are held every Saturday at the Mini Stadium, where boys develop fundamentals like dribbling, passing, coordination, and game awareness. Parents interested in enrolling their children or supporting the academy are welcome to attend.
