The Seychelles Institute of Technology (SIT) held a special assembly last week to celebrate the outstanding achievements of its student-athletes who participated in the 45th National School Athletics Championships, which took place on July 5 at Stad Linite.
The ceremony, held in the school canteen and led by SIT director Ferdinand Denousse, saw the presentation of certificates and shields to students who represented the institution at the prestigious national event.
In his remarks, Mr Denousse commended the athletes for their commitment, discipline, and school spirit. He also expressed pride in SIT’s continued involvement in national sporting events and praised the staff and coaches who support student development both on and off the field.
Coach Joseph Volcy received special recognition for his dedication to nurturing young talent. Staff members were also honoured for their contributions, with certificates presented in appreciation of their support and encouragement throughout the competition.
The National School Athletics Championships attracted large crowds and national attention, celebrating sporting talent from across the country. One of the standout moments of the SIT ceremony was the recognition of La Digue-born student Hakim Anaou, who was named Most Valuable Athlete (MVP) of the championships.
Anaou’s consistent performance and passion for sport earned him the prestigious title, and he shared heartfelt reflections on his journey and the significance of the award, leaving a strong impression on those present.
The event concluded with a reaffirmation of SIT’s commitment to fostering excellence in both academics and athletics. The institution expressed its pride in all participating students and its hope for continued success in future competitions.
