Seychelles gets its first race track

Seychelles has its first race track and if all goes according to plan, the first race is expected to take place on September 20, at 9am.

It was the Minister for Transport, Antony Derjacques, who made this announcement on Thursday after inaugurating the newly constructed lanes project at Ile Du Port, and visiting a series of projects in the northern part of Mahé.

Minister Derjacques said all the necessary measures for a race track are being put in place, including a grandstand, crash barriers (now nearing completion), and stands to ensure safety. The Motorsports Association of Seychelles, the police, the Ministry of Health, and the Seychelles Fire and Rescue Services (SFRSA) have all been engaged, working together to launch the country’s very first motor racing event.
