Kyokushin karate shihans lead seminars in Mauritius and Dubai
Two senior instructors from the Kyokushin Karate School, Shihan Phillip Moustache (7th Dan) and Shihan Francis Françoise (6th Dan), recently conducted intensive seminars in Mauritius and Dubai, offering students the opportunity to advance their skills and knowledge of the martial art style.
Shihan Moustache led a 10-day seminar in Mauritius, marking his second visit to the island this year following the 2nd Gasshuku held in August.
Training sessions took place at the Goodlands Dojo, Bois Pignolet Dojo, and Fond Du Sac Dojo. Students were introduced to numerous new techniques and updated on the latest developments in Kyokushin karate.
The seminar also included a national grading session for senior practitioners, lasting four hours 10 minutes, during which one student was promoted to 5th dan (Godan), one to 4th dan (Yondan), two to 3rd dan (Sandan), and one to 2nd dan (Nidan).
Meanwhile, Shihan Françoise conducted a month-long seminar in Dubai at the start of November, visiting the Al Muharib Karate Dojos in Ajman, Muweilah, and Rolla, operated by Sensei Manoj Thomas.
Over the course of his stay, he prepared students for upcoming gradings and ensured they were up to date with the latest training techniques. He was also a distinguished guest at the 6th Ryu Cup National Championships, held on November 23 and which was attended by Kancho Jackie Chong, head of the IKAK, and Shihan Steven Foo, International Co-operation director. The tournament was widely hailed as a great success.
The next major event on the IKA calendar is the World Tournament, scheduled to take place in Kazakhstan next year.
