Cross-country series kicks off at Roche Caïman
The first races of the Seychelles Athletics Federation’s cross-country series took place on Saturday at the Roche Caïman fitness trail, attracting 26 registered runners across various age categories.
The three-part series follows the opening series held in January.
The race was divided into five categories for male and female runners – under-16, under-18, under-20, senior, and master.
Distances varied according to age and gender.
Under-16 athletes completed 2km (one lap), under-18 runners 4km (two laps), female under-20 athletes 6km (three laps), male under-20 8km (four laps), and senior athletes tackled the longest distance of 10km (five laps).
Participation in some categories was limited. There were no runners in the girls’ under-16 and under-18 events, and the two boys who registered in the under-16 category, Ezekiel Valentin and Samson Florentine, did not start.
