Seychelles has launched a national humanitarian appeal calling on citizens, businesses, organisations, and partners to support Sri Lanka following the catastrophic cyclone Ditwah that recently struck the country, claiming hundreds of lives and displacing thousands.
The appeal was officially launched during a joint briefing hosted and led by the Minister for Local Government and Inner Islands, Eveline Rose, with the presence of the acting High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Seychelles Manisha Perera, government officials, humanitarian partners, and the Sri Lankan community in Seychelles.
Minister Rose noted that the purpose of the gathering was to give an overview of the flooding and disasters that happened in Sri Lanka, and the involvement of Seychelles in trying to remedy the situation and help out.
