Minister Jeremie as a panellist on Ocean Governance
Seychelles reaffirms global environmental leadership
The newly appointed Minister for Environment, Climate, Energy and Natural Resources, Marie-May Jeremie, was leading a national delegation at the seventh Session of the United Nations Environment Assembly convened under the theme ‘Advancing sustainable solutions for a resilient planet’.
The United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) is the world’s highest-level decision-making body on environment matters. The assembly took place from December 8 and 12, 2025 at the United Nations Environment Programme (Unep) headquarters in Nairobi.
Throughout the week, Minister Jeremie has been an active and influential voice in several high-level dialogues focused on coral reef protection, ocean governance, ocean finance, and wider ocean conservation efforts.
In delivering Seychelles’ National Statement, Minister Jeremie reaffirmed the country’s unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship. She highlighted Seychelles’ global leadership in pioneering innovative financing mechanisms for ocean protection and its continued investment in the restoration and conservation of coral reefs one of the world’s most vulnerable ecosystems.
