State House withdraws the appointment of Sabry Khan as DG of SIS

The Office of the President has taken the decision to withdraw the appointment of Sabry Khan as director general of the Seychelles Intelligence Service.

This was announced in a press communique issued yesterday by the Office of the President. It followed a statement from the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly, Hon. Bernard Georges, on Monday, which questioned the appointment of Mr Khan, stating the appointment was irregular in that it should have been made in consultation with the Defence and Security Committee of the National Assembly in terms of section 6(1) of the Seychelles Intelligence Service Act 2019. Mr Georges therefore asked the President to revisit the appointment of Mr Khan and to proceed in accordance with the law.
