Sri Lankan groups demand probe after fishing vessel destroyed in Seychelles waters
Sri Lankan fishing associations have strongly condemned the interception and destruction of a Sri Lankan fishing vessel by Seychelles security forces, calling for investigations into the incident and raising concerns about due process and environmental damage.
According to Sri Lankan media, the All Ceylon Multi-day Trawler Owners’ Association has urged the Sri Lankan government and international organisations to conduct a formal inquiry into the seizure and burning of the vessel, as well as the arrest of six Sri Lankan fishermen by Seychelles authorities.
