Cabinet approves a number of legal and policy memoranda

 

Vice-President Sebastien Pillay chaired a scheduled meeting of the Cabinet yesterday, Wednesday, January 14, during which a number of legal and policy memoranda were approved.

Cabinet approved the Public Holidays (Amendment) Bill, 2026, to add February 1, as ‘Abolition of Slavery Day’ in the list of national public holidays. This means February 1 will officially become a public holiday across Seychelles, in recognition of the historic end of slavery and the importance of commemorating this event nationwide.
